Course Overview

The Professional Diploma in Agribusiness Entrepreneurship and Investment Management challenges the hard questions facing Africa’s agrifood economy. Why do many farms and agrifood enterprises struggle to scale while the Netherlands, a country no bigger than Kaduna State, has become the world’s second-largest exporter of agricultural products after the United States? Why do more foreign food brands dominate African retail shelves than local ones, despite Africa’s abundant raw materials and young, entrepreneurial population? And how can African agrifood entrepreneurs turn opportunities into businesses that are scalable, profitable, and globally competitive?

This program provides the answers by equipping participants with the tools to rethink business models, sharpen operating margins, and design investment strategies that transform farms and agribusinesses into sustainable enterprises. Globally, the agrifood industry is valued at over USD 5 trillion, representing nearly 10 percent of all consumer spending, while Africa’s food market is projected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2030. Yet, without strong entrepreneurship and investment strategies, much of that value will remain untapped or ceded to imports.

Through this diploma, you will explore the principles of entrepreneurship, finance, and investment management alongside cutting-edge trends in agri-tech, digital agriculture, and sustainable food systems. You will learn how to move agribusiness ventures from ideation to commercial maturity, navigating the critical phases of start-up, growth, scale-up, and competitiveness. Case studies, industry engagements, and practical applications will help you master how to design food brands that appeal to evolving consumer preferences, secure financing, manage risks, and compete on the global stage.

Since its inception in 2015, this program has trained hundreds of agribusiness executives who are now blazing trails across Africa with innovative food brands, smart farming ventures, and investment-led enterprises. By joining, you position yourself among a new generation of agrifood leaders who will not only feed a growing population projected to reach 9.7 billion by 2050 but also capture Africa’s rightful share of the global agrifood economy.

This is your opportunity to become the kind of agribusiness professional Africa urgently needs; One who can connect entrepreneurship with investment, creativity with resilience, and local potential with global opportunity.
